Types of Information Sources

Monograph - a non-serial work, complete in one part or set, usually on a narrowly defined single topic. Example:  a book or pamphlet, as opposed to a periodical.

Periodical - a serial (journal, magazine) which is publishd at regular intervals, is numbered, contains separate articles, and has no pre-determined end date.  It does not include newspapers or conferences proceedings.   Example:  a magazine, journal or yearbook.

Internet - worldwide network of computers connected via TCP/IP communications protocols for transfer of information.

Reference List - This is a list of articles to which an author refers within an article.  Usually this list can lead you to more information on your topic, and some informally call it "chasing references."  It is a valid way to gain more information, but this is not the ONLY way you should find sources because you don't want your research to be one-sided.
